Before you pick up the camera, decide who the content is for and what you want them to do, understand or remember afterwards. It makes every decision that follows easier.
GET THE AUDIO CLOSER
Good sound matters more than expensive kit.
A basic microphone positioned close to the person speaking will often give you a better result than an expensive microphone placed too far away.
